Secretary, BCTE

Dr. Pravas Ghosh is the secretary of BCTE. For the last sixteen years, he is in the education field. He is active and his vision is to have developed modern Educational institutions with teachers’ education, Information Technology, Management Studies, Biological Sciences, Health Sciences, and Paramedical Sciences Research Centre with job-oriented courses for students coming from various parts of India and abroad.

I feel happy to welcome my dear students, faculties and stake holders to Bengal College of Teacher Education.
As I look back to the year 2000, the landscape of Paschim Medinipur was vastly different. For the underprivileged in our remote corners where basic education was a distant dream for many, higher education felt like a dream beyond reach. I remember the struggles, the lack of infrastructure, and the many 'odds' we faced when we first laid the foundation of this college under the aegis of Gopsai Avinandan Sangha, a society Registered under West Bengal Societies Act XXVI, 1961.
Bengal College of Teacher Education represents a vision shaped by struggle, responsibility, and faith in education as a transformative force. Establishing an institution of teacher education in a remote area required sustained effort and careful planning, yet it reaffirmed the belief that quality education must not be restricted by geography.
Aligned with NAAC benchmarks and NCTE regulations, the institution is committed to academic excellence, professional ethics, and inclusive education practices. Our pedagogy integrates theoretical foundations, experiential learning, classroom-based research, and reflective practice, enabling student-teachers to develop critical thinking and pedagogical competence.
We actively promote community engagement, value education, and sustainable institutional practices, encouraging our student-teachers to understand education as a social responsibility. The institution continues to evolve through internal quality assurance mechanisms and continuous improvement, guided by the goal of preparing responsible educators for a changing educational landscape.
Today, standing in 2026, this college stands as a testament to resilience. We didn't just build classrooms; we built a gateway for local youth to become the architects of their own future. Our mission remains unchanged - to ensure that no talented mind or explorer of knowledge is held back by the shadow of social or economical exclusion.
I wish all my students should carry forward the light of knowledge and journey of inclusivity.
